Dent d’Herens is one of the fewer climbed 4000m+ peaks, maybe because you can’t see it from any village in the valley, or maybe it’s rather difficult to climb. However, its structure is difficult; there are nearly no straight lines from bottom to top to follow. A week before I climbed it, two people died due falling off the ice flank, normal route. Yet this is nothing compared with the number of deadly accidents at the matterhorn. I like this peak very much and shoot it whenever possible – day and night.
